While most of the city embarks on another joyless January, Great Charlotte Street's afternoon regulars are definitely, and gloriously, doing it their way. And all for £2.30 a pint.
It would have done, I’m sure! If memory serves me right we had but three buses from Northwood, Kirkby. The 544, the 44d and the 92b. Those were long journeys…
I love this! Great article and now I want a characterful local and all my besties there at the same time every week. It’s basically a youth club really, isn’t it?
Worst zone of Liverpool centre by a mile. All the generational poverty of Scottie road and the north end cultural drinking scene , evicted from its knocked down pubs and condensed into sad little former shop caves, in a council approved drinking ghetto, piss stinking homeless haunting the streets outside. Some of these places make spoons look like a Michelin rated pub. Hasn’t the author got some poverty tourism in the 3rd would to glamourise?

Happy days!

Yes. And for one blissful hour, I was the youngest in the room. Perfect
Excellent.
Fantastic David. Always loved your writing.

The 544, what a bus!
Indeed! Am I right it went to Walton Vale? All I know for sure is that it dropped us off in Stopgate Lane!
